Local Election Results Roundup: Nov. 6

State Representative, 7th District

  • Rep. John Lively (D) retains his seat in D7 (Springfield), garnering 55.70% or 17,852 votes, while Cory Burket (R) trailed behind at the polls, securing 44.15% or 14,152 votes. Total votes cast: 32,053.

State Representative, 12th District

  • On Tuesday, voters selected Darin Harbick (R) as their next D12 (Creswell, Cottage Grove) representative. When Harbick defeated incumbent Charlie Conrad at the polls in May, Michelle Emmons (D) also made waves in the write-in slot, garnering enough votes to be placed on the November ballot. Harbick earned 57.86% or 21,905 votes, while Emmons raked in 41.98% or 15,893 votes. Total votes cast: 37,861.

City of Cottage Grove

  • Mayoral incumbent Candace Solesbee will continue to serve in her role after earning 58.84% or 2,595 votes, with opponent and current councilor Dana Merryday securing 40.48% or 1,785 votes. Total votes cast: 4,410.
  • Ward 1: Christine Hyink wins the seat with 53.72% or 1,923 votes. Opponent: Kevin Adamski, 38.63%. Total votes cast: 3,580.
  • At Large 1: Jim Settelmeyer wins the seat with 54.67% or 2252 votes. Opponent: Chris Holloman, 44.55%. Total votes cast: 4,119.
  • At Large 2: Darrel Wilson wins the seat with 41.75% or 1,486 votes. Opponents: Richard Andrew Vasquez, 20.90%; Patrick Cartwright, 20.51%;  and Bernie Donner, 9.05%. Total votes cast: 3,559.
  • Ward 2: Randell Lammerman, 94.49%. Uncontested.
  • Ward 4: Incumbent Greg Ervin, 95.66%. Uncontested.
  • “No” on Measure 20-365: A bond measure to raise $2.5 million for street repairs. This measure would have increased property taxes by 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value for five years. No: 64.00% or 2877 votes. Total votes cast: 4,495.
  • “No” on Measure 20-366: A gas tax increase from 3 cents to 9 cents per gallon to raise $750,000 annually for road construction and maintenance. No: 73.33% or 3,412 votes. Total votes cast: 4,653. 

City of Creswell

  • Nicholas Smith will soon change seats in the council chambers after earning 54.43% or 1,321 votes, effectively changing his title from “councilor” to “mayor” in 2025. Opponent Kevin Prociw’s reattempt at the mayor’s seat fell short once more with 44.09% or 1,070 votes.  
  • Incumbent Clark Kent and newcomers Mark Kremer and Joan Morris were selected to serve on the Creswell City Council. Kent received 30.65% or 1,708 votes; Kremer received 27.89% or 1554 votes; and Morris received 26.31% or 1466 votes. Candidate Christina Allen earned the fewest at 12.90% or 719 votes, squeezing her out of the race.
