Cottage Grove Lions (3-0) at Pleasant Billies (1-2)

Game facts: Friday, Sept 27 at 7 p.m….84455 N Enterprise Rd

What2Know: The Billies play host to No. 12 Cottage Grove Lions. The Billies recently gained one win last week, whereas the Lions have been soaring through all their 3A teams. Billies head coach Jeremiah Heacock says they look forward to their first home game this week as they host a tough Cottage Grove team for their second league game.

Elmira Falcons (0-3) at Creswell Bulldogs (0-3)

Game facts: Friday, Sept 27 at 7 p.m…33390 Niblock Ln

What2Know: The Bulldogs play host to No.34 Elmira this week. Both teams have been recently a winless season. However, last year Elmira blew out the Bulldogs 14-0.

Thurston Colts (4-0)  at Roseburg Indians (2-1)

Game facts: Friday, Sept 27 at 7 p.m….400 W Harvard Ave

What2Know: The Colts head on the road to face No. 12 Indians. The Colts have not played against the Indians in years. However, the Colts’ offense remains dominant and relentless with players such as Kyle Miller, Noah Blair, and David Macdonald.

North Eugene Highlanders (2-2) at Springfield Millers (0-4)

Game facts: Friday, Sept 27 at 7 p.m….875 7th St

What2Know: The Millers play host to No.31 North Eugene Highlanders. In years past, the Millers have dominated the Highlanders. After facing a winless season thus far, a quick easy win might be what the Millers need.

Cottage Grove Lions (4-2) #6

Kicking off: The Lions will play their first league game of the season against Marist Catholic on Tuesday. However, after their second loss of the season against the Cowboys last week, the Lions might need some reassurance. Junior ​​Emmanuel Rea continues to be key for CG’s offense and goalkeeper Josh Burner with a history of great defensive saves,

Creswell Bulldogs (2-2-1) #38

Kicking off:  The Bulldogs gained a sudden winning streak with their last two games, just in time for the start of league games. Senior GK Deacon Edwards has been steady this year, and much of the offense will continue to run through junior Brady Pratt.

Pleasant Hill Billies (2-3-1) #58

Kicking off: Pleasant Hill will head to No.55 Yamhill Carlton this weekend for their last non-league game of the season. The Billies have not played against the Tigers in years, and both teams will face each other with uncertainty.

Springfield Millers (1-3-1) #23

Kicking off: No.18 Lake Oswego will head to face the Millers at their turf on Monday. The Millers have not faced the Lakers in years. However, after the Millers’ losing streak, a new win as they approach their league games will be important. Leo Rivera and Jack Sayre remain important assets on the Millers’ offensive

Thurston Colts (1-5) #28

Kicking off: The #32 Lebanon Warriors will face the Colts on their home turf on Saturday. This is a new opponent for the Colts, who have not played against in recent years. However, the Colts are feeling refreshed after their first win of the season against North Bend.

Girls Soccer

Cottage Grove Lions (3-2) #9
Kicking off: The Lions will take a full week’s break of games and will not have their next game until Monday. On Monday, they’ll face a tricky opponent and their first league game of the season: No. 2 Marist Catholic. As the Lions’ non-league games dwindle, the team will need an improved offense if they want to be competitive in a talented Sky-Em League.

Creswell Bulldogs (4-1-2) #4

Kicking off: the Bulldogs will face a tough league opponent on Monday: Cascade Christian. Offensively, they’ll continue to depend on Mila Nguyen, Elliette Kinney, and Kendal Durflinger. Defensively, Jordyn Marklin, Raelee Green, and 2023 1st-team all-league goalie Kylie Leonard.

Pleasant Billies (5-1-1) #10

Kicking off: The Billies will face No.6 Central Linn tonight. Junior striker Trinity Smead remains a key part of the offense as well as senior captain midfielder Tessa Hammond.

Springfield Millers (1-2-1) #27

Kicking off: The Millers will battle No.18 Crescent Valley tonight. Both teams have only one win under their belt in the season thus far. However, in 2023 Crescent Valley blew out the Millers 4-0. The Millers still have several non-league games going forward, which would provide a great warm-up if Springfield wants to start Midwestern League play on a positive note.

Thurston Colts (4-2) #10

Kicking off: The Colts will hit the road to No.15 Lebanon on Saturday afternoon, who they haven’t played against in years. The Colts will continue to rely on senior goalkeeper Gabriella Montes and Lauren Kranzush, Amber Acocella, and Emmie Gerdrum.

Volleyball

Cottage Grove Lions (5-2, #12)

Setting up: The Lions will head to No.3 Marist Catholic today, who have remained a big competitor in their past. However, the Lions have demonstrated they’re full of surprises this season, such as their win against the Creswell Bulldogs. 

Creswell Bulldogs (7-5, #9)
Setting up: After recovering from their sudden losing streak, the Bulldogs’ wins propel their rankings. However, they will face their cross-town rival No.3 Pleasant Hill today. The Billies have already dominated against the Bulldogs earlier in preseason jamborees. However, the Bulldogs have improved immensely this season with the offensive weapons of Vika Gabrio, Piper Hanson, and Teighlor Nunez.

Pleasant Hill Billies (14-0, #3)

Setting up: The Billies cruised their way through the Marist Catholic Invitation last weekend. The Billies hope to continue their domination up to the playoffs and keep improvement in mind as they transition into league play. After squeaking out a win against Valley Catholic, coach Jessica Crawford says she is “looking to limit these close games.”

Springfield Millers (5-7, #15)

Setting up: The Millers hope to turn their midseason losing streak around. They’ll continue to lean on the talents of outside hitter Sailor Hall and senior middle Julissa Henderson. Next up, they’ll have a brief respite of intense league play and head to a weekend Lincoln Varsity Tournament.

Thurston Colts (1-7, #28)

Setting up: The Colts are excited to have gained their first win of the season last week against Eagle Point 3-0. The Colts will take a brief breather from league play as they head to South Albany State Preview Tournament this weekend. Offensively, the Colts lean on junior outside hitter Addison Nelson.
