Lynette LaGrander passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at home with her family on June 15, 2024.
She was born in Middleboro, Massachusetts. She attended eight schools in different states and graduated from Drain High School in 1954. She met George LaGrander while both were in high school, and they married in Roseburg in 1955. They had two daughters, Amy and Gail. In addition to her daughters, she is also survived by two grandchildren, Reid and Lauren.
Lynette and George divorced in 1978. Soon after, Lynette moved to Eugene. She continued to work for the Social Security Administration, from which she retired after a career of 30 years.
Lynette met and married Sam Cole in 1985. They traveled extensively, visiting places such as Fiji, Cook Islands, New Zealand, Australia, and their favorite destination, Kauai, Hawaii, which they visited at least five times.
Lynette and Sam moved to Creswell in 2007. Sam passed away in 2019.
Lynette participated in many sports, including biking and running. She participated in multiple 10Ks, two sprint triathlons, half marathons, and, for one shining moment, a marathon in 1983.
Lynette was a lifelong member of the Episcopal church. A few years after moving to Creswell, she began attending Creswell Presbyterian, where she found a whole new family.
Lynette shared with her daughters that her life has been full and that she has no regrets. She was grateful for her wonderful neighbors.
Lynette also volunteered at the Creswell Library for 14 years and asked that any donations be made to the library.
We are missing her very much, and she will forever be in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held in the coming months.
