Tribute: Marilyn Rae (Cook) Dillon

Marilyn Rae (Cook) Dillon

March 8, 1944 – Nov. 6, 2023

Marilyn Rae Dillon, 79, lifetime Oregon resident, was reunited with her husband, Lee, in Heaven on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023. She was born in Lakeview, Ore. to Raymond and Cora Cook. Marilyn was the youngest of three kids who grew up in New Pine Creek.

Marilyn was a homemaker, ran the farm, and assisted Lee’s construction company. After raising her kids, she returned to school to become a registered nurse. Marilyn worked as a neurology nurse for 10 years at Sacred Heart Hospital. She loved taking care of her patients. Marilyn raised a huge garden and canned all summer into the fall.

Marilyn and Lee traveled to Jamaica, South Africa, Canada, and China. She also enjoyed traveling with sister Marge and brother Jim to Mexico. She hosted all kinds of gatherings at the farm, knowing how to make everyone feel at home.

Marilyn’s interests included reading, knitting, sewing, a variety of crafts, attending Bible studies and faith conferences, and finding bargains. She was a Brownie leader, Pioneer Girls leader, a vacation Bible school teacher, and kept score at many Little League games.

Marilyn loved attending events her kids and grandkids were involved in, from school programs, sporting events, concerts, graduations, weddings, and welcoming each new baby with handmade blankets and snuggles in the rocking chair.

Marilyn’s family was her greatest joy. She instilled the importance of faith into her kids and grandkids as they dealt with life’s ups and downs. Mom/Grammy leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her kids, Kristi (Carl), Tim, David (Joy), eight grandkids, and six great-grandkids.

A life celebration will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024  at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

We love you, Grammy, for all the ways you showered us with your love.
