Tribute: Sharron Marie Kyle Matthews-Lyons

Sharron Marie Kyle Matthews-Lyons

Oct. 5, 2023

Sharron Marie Kyle Matthews-Lyons passed away on Oct. 5, 2023, she was 82.

She was married to Ronald Vincent Lyons, whom she adored and preceded her in death. Sharron was born in the state of Washington to parents Leslie Carmen Kyle and Iva Smith Kyle. Sharron was the youngest of three children, and had two older brothers who preceded her in death. She was eight when her family moved to Springfield, Ore. where she remained a life-long resident in the town she loved.

Sharron graduated from Springfield High School and has three surviving children: Beth Ann (Matthews) Wheeler of Newport, Ore., Kyleen Marie (Matthews) Carlson of Prescott, Ariz., and William Marvin Matthews of Eugene, Ore. She has five grandchildren and three great grand-children that she loved very much, and will be deeply missed by them all.

Sharron had several careers during her lifetime: a Springfield School District elementary school secretary, florist shop owner, and her career until retirement as produce/floral manager at Safeway.

Sharron’s interests were many. She was a Master Bridge player and loved her friends at the Bridge Club she played at weekly. She was a talented florist, fabulous cook and loved laughing with all her friends and family. She was an Elvis fan, and her collection of his music was great. Mementos from a trip to Graceland were special to her. One of Elvis’ songs, “My Way” suited her perfectly.

Sharron loved gardening and could get anything to grow and look beautiful. Those that knew her only had to look at her yard and home.

Sharron did not want a service; she requested just her family getting together to spread her ashes. To her friends, she only wished they would think of her and raise a glass.

Everyone knew when Sharron was in attendance, her laugh was infectious, loud and always recognizable.  The silence and her presence will be deeply missed so much by those who loved and knew her.
