Nancy J. Dillon

1927 – Sept. 5, 2022

Nancy J. Dillon passed away Sept. 5, 2022. She was just days away from her 95th birthday. She was born in Eugene to Aksel and Anna Thorsfeldt, both of whom had immigrated from Norway.

Her elementary years were on McKenzie View Drive in a one-room schoolhouse. She graduated from Eugene High School and attended the University of Oregon.

Nancy worked at Chase Gardens greenhouses and the phone company. She went on a blind date with a co-worker’s brother-in-law after WWII. That date would result in a 67-year marriage to Wayne W. Dillon. Together they had seven children: Larry, Gloria, Bruce, Janice, Deena, Sherman and Steven.

Nancy loved sewing, gardening and Tai Chi. She had a vast knowledge in nutrition and lived a healthy lifestyle. She was a Shaklee distributor for over 50 years. She also loved watching her grandchildren play sports, ice skating and supported Duck football (and Oregon State, too). She was involved in the Women’s League of Voters, participated in State Representative Peter DeFazio’s campaigns and volunteered at Food For Lane County.

Nancy is survived by her children and sister Ingrid. She also has nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Bruce and granddaughter, Elissa, as well as her brothers Howard and Erling.

A gathering to honor and share memories of Nancy was held.
