Chad Nicholas Houtz, 40, of Anchor Point, Alaska passed away on June 16, 2022. Chad was born on June 7, 1982 in Florence, Ore. to Robert and Candy (Burdett) Houtz. Chad graduated from Al Kennedy Alternative School and started work as a security guard. Chad loved being a father more than anything. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. One of his favorite places to go fishing was the Snake River. Chad and Melissa Gardner lived together in Alaska. He loved her deeply and talked about her all the time.
Chad is survived by his two sons, Zachariah Lee Smith and John J. Smith, both of Yoncalla, Ore.; parents Robert G. and Candy E. Houtz of Cottage Grove, Ore.; brother Tony R. Houtz of Cottage Grove; brother John W. Houtz of Springfield, Ore.; sister Kristy E. Houtz of Cottage Grove. Chad is preceded in death by his grandfather James O. Burdett. A private family service is planned at a later date.
