‘Les Schwab Bowl’ makes return July 2

For 72 years, the Les Schwab Bowl showcased Oregon’s finest graduated seniors in an annual all-star football game.

Then last year, underclassmen got to join the party for the first time, as rising juniors and sophomores were added to the North and South rosters of the game that’s now officially known as the Les Schwab Bowl presented by Express Employment Professionals. It is one of Oregon’s longest running sports traditions.

The July 2 game at Linfield University features the best talent in the state and SW Washington. The all-time series is even at 34-34 and four ties. Event proceeds from the Les Schwab Bowl will benefit the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association general scholarship fund and all of Oregon’s 5A and 6A schools.

Oregon Sports Summit:  After retiring from the NFL in 2012, David Vobora opened a sports performance training center aimed at helping rebuild wounded warriors. Soon after, he launched the non-profit Adaptive Training Foundation (ATF) to provide access and inclusion to individuals living with physical or traumatic impairments by empowering them through exercise and community. Voboro is the keynote speaker at the Oregon Sports Summit. Registration is open and costs $90.

The Oregon Sports Summit welcomes sports event planners, leaders of sports organizations, sports venue and facility operators, destination marketing organizations, vendors, and others from the Oregon sports community for a full-day conference meant to educate, support and inspire event planners to achieve success. Athletic directors, coaches, booster club members and local sports team and league members are also encouraged to attend.

This year, there will be a separate educational track for Oregon DMOs, sponsored by Sport Oregon.
