Kaylee Annis and Averie Stockwell won 5A state wrestling titles for the Thurston girls, while Creswell’s Brielle Brick earned second place after finishing fourth in 2020.
Competing Thursday at Culver High School, Annis won at 105 pounds, pinning West Albany’s Richi Campbell in 3 minutes, 4 seconds.
Stockwell won at 145 pounds, pinning Forest Grove’s Jasmine Hopkins in 3:16.
The Colts scored 75 points as a team to finish in second place. Forest Grove won the state title with 99 points.
Brick, competing in Class 3A, lost her 140-pound final to Oregon City’s Bella Amaro by a 5-4 decision.
Thurston’s boys racked up three individual state titles as the Colts finished third in the team standings behind Crescent Valley. Kolton Malone (138) defeated West Albany’s Derek Sossie, 9-2; Hunter Harwood (152) stopped Ridgeview’s Daniel Jaramillo, fall 1:35, and Vaun Halstead (220) defeated Hillsboro’s Sebastian Echeverria, 7-1.
