Richard A. Duyck July 16, 1921 – Jan. 24, 2022

Richard passed away peacefully at home after a brief, rapid decline in his health. He was 100.

Richard was born in Portland, Ore., to father Kamile Karl Duyck and Celina VanDame Duyck. When he was 1 years old the family moved to the Creswell area. He had two brothers, Cecil and Hubert, and three sisters, Charmaine, Clara and Margarette, all deceased.

As a teenager he went to work at Harry Holt Lumber Company driving a lumber carrier. During WWII he joined the Army. He was a tank Sgt. serving in western Europe. He was in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he married Dorothy Lytle of Creswell in 1946. They were married 54 years before her passing in 2001. Richard continued working for Holt Lumber and Teague Lumber in Roseburg and Florence. He was a millwright many of those years. He retired in 1983. On his farm in Creswell he raised hazelnuts and hay. He was active and working on motors up to the last month. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to his beach house.

Richard is survived by son Richard and daughter Martha (Jim); grandchildren Bill, Cheryl, Shannon (Bryan), and Shawn; great-grandchildren Caleb, Kaia, Finn, Kaylee, McKenzie, Matthew (Christina) and Elizabeth (Tyler); great-great grandchildren, Elijah, Luella, Forrest, Dakota, Levi, Silas, Aya, and Leon. 

The family would like to thank the nursing care of Sacred Heart Home Health and especially the nurses of Sacred Heart Hospice for his final days.

There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements by Andreasons Cremation and Burial in Springfield.
