Valentine “Marie” Raymond, 86, of Creswell, Ore. formerly of Dorena, Ore. passed away Jan. 12, 2022. Marie was born in Cottage Grove on Feb. 14, 1935 to parents Robert Lee and Mary Zora (West) Owen. She graduated from Cottage Grove as valedictorian 1952.
After graduation, she waited until she turned 18 and married Robert “Bob” Raymond in Dorena on April 10, 1953. Their 69th wedding anniversary would have been in April 2022.
Marie worked as an office manager at Dorena and Culp Creek School for 27 years. She helped the principal when he was out and filled in for the teachers and school nurse. Marie liked to travel and enjoyed many camping trips with her husband. She liked to play dice, but most of all she loved being with her family.
Marie is survived by her husband Bob; son Danny (Karen) Raymond of Springfield, Ore.; daughter Denise Parent of Cottage Grove; brother Tommy (Luci) of Sunnyside, Ore.; brother Ernie of Eugene; brother David (Susie) of Creswell; brother Ross (Bev) of Pleasant Hill; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
