Kay Lee Flood: March 18, 1942 – Dec. 29, 2021

Kay Lee Flood, 79, of Cottage Grove, Ore., passed away peacefully in her sleep Dec. 29, 2021 to be with the Lord and her husband. 

Kay was born in Roseburg, Ore., March 18, 1942 to parents Wilber M. and Catheline R. (Standley) Merchen. Oliver and Kay were married Sept. 10, 1960 in Washington state. 

Kay worked in the cafeteria in Powers and worked for Pam’s Sunny Side in Cottage Grove. For the most part Kay was a stay-at-home wife and mother. Kay and Oliver used to trap shoot together and hunt and fish with the family. She loved to sew, knit, paint and she decorated cakes. She was very crafty. Kay really loved to make other people happy. She loved her family and friends, always willing to lend a hand.

Kay has touched so many hearts, and everyone that mom met loved her as she loved everyone else. 

She is survived by daughter Rhonda; daughter Catheline and husband Bobby; grandchildren Katie, LaKrisha, Carrie, Terry and Roy; and 15 great-grandchildren. 

A celebration of life will be held Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. at Shady Oaks, 77380 OR-99, in Cottage Grove. It will be a potluck and the family will provide the meat, so please bring your favorite side dishes. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
