Nancy Ann Gressler: June 29, 1939 – Sept. 24, 2021

Nancy Ann Gressler, 82, of Springfield, died peacefully on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021.

Nancy was born June 29, 1939 in Frankfort, Ind., to Eugene and Marguerite Stoops. She graduated from Carmel High School in Indiana, then went on to receive a B.A. from Evansville College and an M.A. from Bowling Green State University.

She married Thomas Gressler while working with the Entertainment Division of the Department of Defense in Korea in 1964. They divorced in 1984.

Besides being a loving mother, she had a varied career including teaching school in four states, directing theatre productions, and serving for 24 years as bailiff reporter for the Lane County Circuit Court.

She was very involved in her church, First Congregational Church of Eugene, in many capacities, also as an active community member in the Democratic Party, the American Association of Women, and several book and movie groups.

Nancy loved to travel the world and was always up-to-date on current events, especially her beloved Oregon Ducks. And there was never any doubt about where she stood on any topic. Most of all, she was a loving, caring and loyal friend to many.

She is survived by her partner, Dennis Moore; two sons, Mark (Christine), and Todd; one brother, Ron (Lynda); eight grandchildren, Colin, Alicia, Brendan, Quinn, Aislinn, Rory, Jackson, Simone; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Violet. A memorial service is pending. Memorial contributions can be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at First Congregational Church, Eugene, Ore.
