Mary Maxine Jones Atwood, 92, of Cottage Grove, Ore. passed away October 3, 2021. Mary was born to Floyd and Kitty (Brumbaugh) Jones on Feb. 25, 1929 in Cottage Grove. After high school Mary married Darrell Atwood on July 4, 1952 in Reno, Nev.
She worked as a grocery clerk for many years in Cottage Grove. Work was life for Mary. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play during their sports activities.
Mary is survived by her daughter Lottie (Butch) Fitch, of Cottage Grove; son Darrell “Toby” (Debbie) Atwood of Cottage Grove; brothers Eldon, Harold, and Carlos; sister Celia and Helen; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Darrell in 1970. A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 15 at Brumbaugh Cemetery at 11 a.m. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel.
