Nancy (Howe) Stephens, 80, of Springfield, passed away at home on Aug. 26, 2021. No services are planned.
The daughter of Robert and Gladys Howe, she was born in Akron, Ohio in 1941 and later moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., where she completed high school and business college. She worked as a purchasing assistant, retiring from the Santa Barbara School District, then moved to Oregon.
Nancy enjoyed playing pinochle and mahjong at the Adult Activity Center. She also spent time reading, doing sudoku, and working on her rose bushes.
Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter Melanie Beth Stephens, and her brothers Frank Howe and Norman Howe. She is lovingly remembered by her children: son Ron Stephens and his wife Melissa, of Greer, S.C.; son Rick Stephens, of Springfield and his former wife Valerie Webb; and daughter Caryn Stephens, of Springfield.
Nancy was blessed to have a large extended family and is survived by her sisters Carolyn Castagnola and Jessie Holguin; her brother Warren Howe and his wife Jan Karon; her grandchildren Stormy, Philip, Sara, and Cassandra; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
