Dean A. Taylor passed away on Jan. 10, 2021 at the age of 95. He was born in Latham, Ore., on April 7, 1925 to John and Jessie Taylor. He was the youngest of four children.
When Dean was about 3, the family moved to Eugene where he graduated from Eugene High School. He then went to Spokane, Wash. and worked at an airplane factory during the war. When he returned to Eugene, he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad (as did his father and grandfather) from 1945 until 1985. While working for the Railroad he met Phyllis Swartz and they were married on August 30, 1953. Dean was an avid and very good bowler, and also loved playing golf.
He retired at age 60 and after his wife retired they traveled for many years to Europe, touring many countries. When walking became more difficult, they went on cruises on the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, and Alaska.
Dean is survived by his wife and their two children, Robert (Autumn) Taylor and Susan (Kevin) Conover, and grandchildren Ian Taylor and Matthew Conover. Also survived by grandchildren-by-marriage Robin (John Paul) Sproed and Carmella Camacho and six great-grandchildren.
