Creswell shooting suspect charged

Wesley Fredrick Roy

CRESWELL — A man was arrested and charged today after allegedly shooting a Springfield man on Davisson Road in Creswell last month.

On Sept. 15, 2020 at 10:20 p.m. the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man with a gunshot wound at the 81000 block of Davisson Road. Deputies located the victim, a 59-year-old Springfield man, outside of a residence bleeding profusely. The victim was taken to the hospital and received medical attention for multiple wounds.

Wesley Fredrick Roy Jr., 40, no address given, was taken into custody on Oct. 12 after police placed a spike strip south of the RV park on the 82100 block of Davisson Road, giving Roy’s silver sedan two flat front tires. Police said that Roy attempted to elude deputies by increasing his speed to over 100 miles per hour until he reached a curve in the roadway and eventually slowed, then stopped.

Roy was taken into custody without further incident on charges from multiple different cases including Assault in the first degree associated with the Sept. 15 shooting and Assault in the second degree from a domestic violence case where the female victim suffered serious permanent injuries.

This case has been forwarded to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
