FRIDAY, MARCH 13
• Springfield Rotary Auction, 5 to 9 p.m. in the CML (Center for Meeting & Learning) at Lane Community College. Cost is $70 and includes dinner, wine and an open bar. There will also be a paddle raise dedicated to scholarships for Springfield students. Tickets are available from any Springfield Rotarian or by email to [email protected].
SATURDAY, MARCH 14
• Spring Fling Derby at Bob Keefer Center, 5-9 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m., first whistle at 6 p.m. Emerald City Roller Derby takes on the world first, followed by Lane County Concussion taking on Bridgetown Menace from Portland. Kids 12 and under are free. Tickets: $12 presale; $15 at the door.

• Make a pinata, 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Springfield Public Library. Balloons, newspaper, flour, water: all the ingredients for a pinata to make and take home. For teens, ages 12 and over. Free.

• Little Family Yoga, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Springfield Public Library. Instructor Brynne Blevins works with breath control, body movement and relaxation. Intended for preschoolers and their families. Every first and third Thursday of each month. Free.

• Lucky Bingo, noon to 2 p.m. for ages 50-plus. St. Paddy’s-themed bingo and Irish-themed lunch at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center. $10 in advance, $12 day of event.

• “ENGINEER IT! Exploring Ancient Technologies,” 2:30– 3:30 p.m. at Springfield Public Library. Presented by the Museum of Natural & Cultural History. Appropriate for all grade school and upper preschool ages. Build a shelter, design a boat, weave a shoe or invent a fishing tool. Try out your own engineering skills while discovering technologies designed by Oregon’s first engineers. • Springfield Celebrates Authors: Suzi Prozanski’s “Brigadoon of the Sixties,” 2 p.m. at Springfield Public Library, 225 5th St. Free. Learn about the trials and tribulations that went into making the Oregon Country Fair the cultural phenomenon that it is today. SATURDAY, APRIL 11
• MEGGA Easter Egg Hunt, a Willamalane Easter tradition since 1955 with more than 25,000 Easter eggs, 9:30 a.m.-noon at Lively Park, 6100 Thurston Road. Participate in games and crafts, and ride on the Willamalane Train. Dance, wiggle and shake to live entertainment. Bring your camera to snap a photo with Hops the Bunny. Beat the crowds and purchase advance tickets online or at any Willamalane facility. This is a rain-or-shine event, so dress for the weather. Noncompetitive hunts take place at the end of the event for participants who would like a quieter egg hunt experience; sensory-friendly hunt for grades K-2 is at 11:15 a.m.; sensory-friendly hunt from grades 3-5 is at 11:30 a.m.; adaptive hunt for teens and adults with disabilities begins at 11:45 a.m. Allow at least a half an hour for parking, shuttle and admission before the hunting begins. Additional parking spaces are available at Thurston High School, where shuttles will begin running at 9 a.m. $6 per child in advance; $8 per child at door. Free for those not egg hunting.

• Lunch and Learn: History Comes Alive in the Graveyard, noon to 2 p.m. A lunch and lecture in honor of Memorial Day. Kuri Gill from the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries will discuss the symbolism and heritage of important local sites and what is being done to preserve them. Located at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center. $7 in advance, $10 day of event. Ages 18-plus.
