WRESTLING: Class 3A Rainier finished 8th as a team at state in 2019; it’s returning three wrestlers who placed at state, five who qualified for state and overall have six wrestlers ranked in the Top 10.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: No. 2 Sutherlin lost to No. 1 Clatskanie 69-65 in overtime at the Yoda MLK Showcase on Monday, Jan. 20. … Top-ranked Clatskanie is defending state champs, and last year won its final 10 games last season, including the postseason. It also won its first nine games this season before losing. Clatskanie was undefeated in the Class 3A Coastal Range League last year. They have only two seniors on the team.
WRESTLING: The Oregon Classic was held at the Deschutes Fair and County Expo Center in Redmond on Jan. 17-18. Officials estimated there were roughly 3,000 participants among nearly 100 teams registered for the event. … Five teams from Special District-3 (Creswell’s wrestling league) participated.
