GAMES
Thursday, Jan. 7 CHS travels to La Pine, 6 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 10 CHS hosts Pleasant Hill, 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 14 CHS vs. Chemawa (non-league), 7 p.m.
WHAT2WATCH: Creswell has its first PacWest Conference game in La Pine, starting off its season with a long and cold bus trip. ”I don’t worry so much about playing on the road but when you get over into La Pine, the weather can be the worst part. I know there’s been teams that have gotten stuck over there and during the week, it can throw everything off if something like that were to happen,” coach Jesse Thomas said. … It seems as though Creswell is more comfortable playing 10.9 miles away – equivelant to the distance Emmit Smith ran for during his NFL career. The Bulldogs played well at PHHS, but haven’t beaten the Billies since 2017-18.
WHO2WATCH: Max Smith, all-state honorable mention last season, and Jayden Casarez, return as juniors for La Pine. Kai Apo is also expected back for the Bulldogs after straining his Achilies tendon last week. Creswell has lost two in a row

GIRLS BASKETBALL
GAMES
Thursday, Jan. 7 CHS travels to La Pine, 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 10 CHS hosts Pleasant Hill, 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 14 CHS vs. Chemawa (non-league), 5:30 p.m.
WHAT2WATCH: Creswell will hop on the bus for the two-hour trip to Deschutes County, which on a school night with the possibility of snow, could lead to a long night. It takes longer to run a marathon than it does to drive to La Pine. Even so, the road trip is not something that the Dawgs enjoy. ”La Pine is a big game for us. It would be nice to get that win on the road and start league off with positive momentum but that road trip is never fun,” said coach Tyler Hollingsworth. It isn’t just the time on the bus that is dreaded though. Hollingsworth said that the physical style of basketball La Pine plays can be tough if the referees have a different standard of what constitutes a foul. ”The foul differential last year was extreme and not in our favor. It’s definitely a worry when you go over there and the reffing is very inconsistent,” he said.
QUOTABLE: ”La Pine is a team that maybe on paper isn’t the most talented but they work hard and you know they’ll get after it and they get after you physically,” Hollingsworth said. ”You have to be ready to do the same thing if you don’t have that mindset, you’re not going to do well. They’re very physical and we are going to have to be ready for that kind of game.”
