Last weekend, about 70 supporters of the Cottage Grove Carousel attended a storytelling fundraising event and were entertained by actor, storyteller and oral interpreter Rickie Birran. He told stories of Halloween, including the history and story of Sleepy Hollow and the stories of Edgar Allan Poe, among others. ”As we move from phase one, the recreation of the carousel, to phase two, we will be holding similar fundraisers to move to our own building,” Don Williams of Friends of the Cottage Grove Carousel said, noting that planning is underway for a Christmas Carol on Dec. 7 and an Easter program with a biblical theme.
