Mayor: Former city councilor left lasting legacy

It is with a heavy heart that I share my thoughts on former Creswell resident and city councilor Adam Pelatt, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Adam served on the City Council from April 2013 through December 2015. He also served as city council president under former mayor, Dave Stram.
Adam was an intelligent man who had the best interests of Creswell in clear focus. He brought a level of excellence to his city councilor role that I still am constantly trying to emulate.
He worked hard on many issues that still impact Creswell today. The banners of the Creswell U.S. servicemembers that adorn the streetlights along Oregon Avenue are because of Adam Pelatt.
Adam and his family, wife Jessica and their twins, George and Evelyn, moved to Billings, Montana after being transferred for work. Jessica kept their Creswell family and friends up to date with the family – especially the kids – by posting her excellent photography on Facebook. Sadly, this was also where she shared the devastating news of Adam’s passing. When I read her words, I simply could not believe what I was reading. Great people like Adam are not supposed to pass away so young.
Many people in Creswell, like me, were blessed to call Adam and Jessica close friends. My heart is filled with sorrow at his passing, but aches especially for Jessica and their children.
There was a funeral service at St. Patrick Cathedral in Billings on July 29. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to his favorite charity, REBOOT Recovery.
“For many combat veterans and first responders, the stress doesn’t end when the deployment ends or the siren goes silent,” according to the REBOOT Recovery webpage. “Too often, the first to respond to the needs of others are the last to seek help for themselves following a traumatic event. But through REBOOT Recovery, there is hope after trauma.” For more information, visit rebootrecovery.com.
Creswell and I will miss you, Adam Pelatt. May you forever rest in peace.
