A worthy cause for all of us

We visited the Greenhill Humane Society on Monday morning at its updated facility and what a pleasant experience it was. The complex is new or refurbished and it is a great place that rescues stray, lost and abandoned dogs and cats in the Eugene, Creswell and Cottage Grove areas. They had some rabbits, also.
Cary Lieberman gave us a tour that lasted an hour and we still didn’t see it all. But it certainly was enough to whet our appetites to learn more. The staff and volunteers are professional and caring. Cages, exercise areas, veterinary operating rooms plus many other locations have been built for the animals where they can be nursed, fed, cleaned, given inoculations and have their own private accommodations.
When a dog or cat arrives, they are treated with kindness and checked for ID chips for owner information.
The facility does not receive municipal funds; it subsists on donations from several charities and mostly private individuals. Towns and the cities that do not have animal shelters do contribute to Greenhill. All animals that are put up for adoption are given their shots, spayed or neutered and evaluated to be certain they are healthy.
I strongly suggest that we put this valuable facility on the list to receive our donations. Any little bit will help and it will certainly help get strays and feral felines the help they need.
