At Shady Oaks Plants and Produce in Cottage Grove – family comes first. Owned by Cindie and Mike Lentz, Shady Oaks has been offering plants, fresh fruits, vegetables, breakfast, lunch and desserts since 2002.
Their menu items vary weekly, but their quiche, farm-fresh eggs and soups are always available. Additionally, Shady Oaks Plants and Produce features signature bread and specialty cakes. Two of their most popular and well-known menu items are their homemade salsa and apple-zucchini bread.
On ”Farm Fresh Fridays,” customers enjoy old-fashioned and freshly baked pies, as well as $1.50 Umpqua Dairy ice cream. Another popular special is Cindie’s Chocolate Chip Cookies which are only $1.00 for three cookies.
Shady Oaks offers more than just plants and produce: They also offer unique experiences. Scenic walks, picnics, tractor rides and tours, they believe in creating memorable family outings. Hayrides are available in the fall every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and for Halloween, families can pick their favorite pumpkins.
On Sept. 25 from 6 p.m to 8 p.m., an apple pie making class is available for $45 per person, and includes all the ingredients needed to create a homemade apple pie. Starting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12, Shady Oaks will feature The Addams Family movie, and on Oct. 19, Hocus Pocus will once again be presented. Families are encouraged to arrive early to visit the concessions stand and settle in for a night of family entertainment. Tickets are only $1.00 each and are available on a first come, first served basis.
