Cottage Grove’s South Valley Farmers’ Market is growing and changing as a means to best serve its community. This heartfelt market, located at the intersection of 7th and Main streets, may be smaller than some of the area markets – around 12 booths per week – but the options are quite vast. The market offers farm-fresh eggs, locally produced meats, herbs, plants, veggies, fruit, baked goods, handcrafted items, pesto, fermented foods, prepared foods, local art and so much more.
Their prime location in the heart of downtown Cottage Grove gives visitors a great feel for the vibe of the town and its people while you shop away and support local producers.
It’s a bit like stepping back in time at South Valley Farmers’ Market. You have to experience it to understand. Many of the vendors have a long history with the market and you can feel the camaraderie and support among the vendors.
It’s also exciting to hear that many of the locally owned restaurants in the area are sourcing their food from the market, including The BrewStation, Axe and Fiddle, Busters Main Street Cafe and Jack Spratts, just to name a few.
The market strives to offer the community and local restaurants safe, clean and organic food choices. The market is also a perfect place for new food producers to get their feet wet and grow their business.
South Valley Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from the first of May through the end of October. Summer hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Additionally, the South Valley Farmers’ Winter Market runs November and December at the Cottage Grove Armory.
