Smith, Allen lead Dawgs against Hawks, Eagles

Sophomore Gauge Smith won three events to pace the Bulldog boys and senior Cali Allen won two to lead the girls as Creswell hosted La Pine and Harrisburg for a league track and field meet on May 2.
For his trifecta, Gauge won the 100m in a PR of 11.23, the 200m in a PR of 23.41 and the 300m intermediate hurdles in 45.64. Allen won the 100m high hurdles in a PR of 18.10 and the 300m intermediate hurdles in a PR of 55.94; Shelby Lamm won the girls’ 100m in a PR of 27.63; and Freya DeMasters won the 400m in a PR of 1:07.39.
In other scoring finishes for the boys, Tyler Olson placed second in the high jump at a season’s-best 5-04; Miguel Lopez placed second in the 400m in 1:02.56 and third in the pole vault at a PR of 8-06; Grant Marshall placed second in the 800m in a PR of 2:12.83 and second in the triple jump at a PR of 37-05.75; Cam Nguyen placed second in the 1500m in a PR of 4:52.99 and Josiah Lee placed fourth in 5:15.91.
Nguyen placed second in the 3000m in 11.09.25, Lee placed third in a PR of 11:23.29 and Jackson Velarde placed fourth in 16:28.72; Zach Culp placed second in the long jump at 19-0, third in the triple jump at a PR of 36-10 and fourth in the 100m in 12.11; and Andrew Cox placed fourth in the long jump at18-02.75 and fourth in the triple jump at 35-10.
Chance Bellew placed fourth in the 200m in 25.95 and fifth in the 100m in a PR of 12.39a; Javier Fregoso placed third in the shot put at a PR of 24-09, fourth in the discus at a PR of 60-04 and fourth in the javelin at 53-11.
Also scoring for the girls, Allen placed second in the javelin at 119-09; Autumn Bastian placed second in the 800m in 2:47.17 and DeMasters placed third in 3:01.05; Lamm tied for third in the 100m in 13.25; Kristina Gonda placed third in the long jump at a PR of 11-07.75; Breanna Dapron placed fourth in the javelin at a PR of 88-06; and Jessalynn Aiken placed fifth in the long jump at 9-09.
The home meet was the Bulldogs’ final tune-up for the Mountain Valley Conference/District 4 Championships, to be held Saturday at Pleasant Hill.
