Spring snow keeps Oakridge relays interesting

Bulldog track and field athletes battled through an early spring snowfall while competing in the Warrior Coed Relays, hosted by Oakridge on March 23.
In a very low-scoring meet in which prevailing weather conditions compelled many teams and athletes to withdraw rather than trade their track spikes for snowshoes, the Creswell girls placed second, while the boys placed fourth.
Central Linn topped both girls’ and boys’ team standings.
Scoring for the Bulldogs, the 4×120-yard shuttle hurdles team won with a time of 1:09.19; the 4x100m relay team of Chance Bellew, Gauge Smith, Andrew Cox and Tyler Olson placed second in 51.17; and the 4x800m relay team placed third in 11:32.66.
Scoring for the Lady Dawgs, Cali Allen placed second in the javelin with a throw of 98-02; and the 4x100m relay team of Hannah Bettis, Allen, Shelby Lamm and Freya DeMasters placed second in 1:01.40.
