Patricia ”Pat” Pittman

Patricia ”Pat” Pittman, 93, passed to heaven on Jan. 29, 2018, capping a life filled with family, faith and service to her community.
Pat was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Eugene to Charles Arthur Mahany and Ethel Reeves Mahany. She graduated from Eugene High School in 1942, and married Strayer ”Pitt” Pittman on April 4, 1945.
She attended the University of Oregon and remained an avid Duck sports fan throughout her life. She didn’t miss a Duck performance on the Pac 12 Sports Network.
In about 1950, Pat and Pitt moved from Eugene to Cottage Grove, where they raised their three children. They moved to Creswell in 2003 and spent the latter years of their lives there.
Though Pat lived her entire married life in Lane County, she relished the opportunity to travel, visiting places as far-flung as Chile, Central America and the Caribbean.
She also enjoyed the daily crossword puzzle, golf (she was a longtime member of the Hidden Valley Ladies Golf Association), and a wide variety of family activities (many at their home on the Row River in Cottage Grove).
Faith played a guiding role in Pat’s life. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Cottage Grove for 59 years.
She volunteered more than 2,500 hours in the local healthcare system through the Cottage Grove Hospital Auxiliary.
Pat passed on peacefully of age-related causes, surrounded by family, at Sacred Heart RiverBend.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Strayer, on Jan. 19, 2008, after 63 years of marriage.
She is survived by her son, Greg Pittman (Marilyn) of Creswell; Gary Pittman (Sandy) of Roseburg; Pam Kronberger (Gene) of Creswell; sister, Shirley Hibbs of Eugene; five grandsons; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Cottage Grove at the Church of Christ, located at Sixth and Gibbs, on March 17 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of Christ Faith Promise (195 N. 6th St., Cottage Grove, OR 97424) or the Eugene Mission (P.O. Box 1149, Eugene, OR 97440).
Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel.
