AARP offers free tax prep in Oregon

Oregon’s older residents can access free tax preparation services this season through AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the largest volunteer-based tax assistance program in the nation.

Operating until April 15, Tax-Aide has helped over 82 million people since 1968, with volunteers assisting over 1.7 million taxpayers last year alone in the 2025 tax season.

Oregon volunteers completed more than 19,500 federal and 18,400 state returns, securing over $26 million in refunds. For many older adults on fixed incomes, these refunds can significantly impact everyday necessities, said an AARP spokesperson.

The program is open to all eligible taxpayers, with no AARP membership required. Services include in-person tax preparation, drop-off options, and remote assistance. Taxpayers can find local Tax-Aide sites and assistance options through the Tax-Aide site locator or by visiting aarpfoundation.org/taxaide.
