Springfield earns kudos for bike safety

SPRINGFIELD – The City of Springfield has been awarded a Silver-level designation as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists in recognition of Springfield’s efforts to enhance bicycle safety, accessibility, and convenience for residents and visitors. The designation, which is valid until 2029, follows a detailed review of the city’s biking programs and input from local cyclists. Springfield, which received a Bronze designation in 2018, aims to improve further and may seek higher levels in the future. Community feedback shows a desire for more separated bike facilities.
