Tribute to Bohemia Mining Days did not skip a beat

BOB WILLIAMS / THE CHRONICLE Spirit of BMD, a tribute event that community members produced since Bohemia Mining Days, Inc. decided against putting on its annual summer event — brought Grovers together last weekend to celebrate BMD’s 65th birthday. Many attendees couldn’t even tell that this event was put together in just six weeks, and there were only positive reviews shared about the importance of togetherness as well as pride in being part of the Grove. COTTAGE GROVE – Last weekend’s tribute event for Bohemia Mining Days seemed to be a success for the production team as Grovers wandered through Coiner Park with contagiously giddy energy.

Fundraising co-coordinator Cindy Weeldreyer said she likes to think of this annual celebration as a “community birthday party.” Since Spirit of Bohemia Mining Days was run mostly by retired alumni of Bohemia Mining Days, Inc., “it was like having one last ride together.”
