The Springfield Police Department and Lane County Sheriff’s Office are gearing up for the National Night Out events next week. This annual campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie and gives residents an opportunity to engage with their local police department.
Creswell will host its own National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Harry Holt Memorial Park at 127 N. 4th St. Activities include K-9 demonstrations from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, emergency vehicle displays, a dunk tank featuring deputies, and a donut-eating contest. There will also be free food, music, face painting, and community booths from local emergency service partners.
Springfield’s event will be held at Les Schwab Sports Park on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 4-7 p.m. Attendees can check out various SPD vehicles, learn about the department’s special units and teams, and meet officers and staff. Representatives from the Eugene Police Department, Eugene/Springfield Fire, Oregon Department of Forestry, Springfield Public Works, Springfield Library, Cahoots, and other local organizations will showcase their services.
