The Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) has announced plans for the Willamette River Treatment Plant and Intake Project, which includes the construction of a new water intake and treatment facility, along with additional building facilities, access roads, and stormwater treatment facilities in Glenwood.
The project proposes to impact approximately 479.6 linear feet of waterways by excavating about 971 cubic yards of native material and discharging approximately 806 cubic yards of concrete, fill, riprap, and large wood. Additionally, a temporary impact of around 0.133 acres of wetland and 210 linear feet of waters is anticipated as part of the construction process, involving the excavation of 739 cubic yards of native material and the discharge of 434 cubic yards of topsoil.
Upon completion, the project will create approximately 5.95 acres of new impervious surface area on a 10.54-acre site within the Willamette River Basin. Mitigation efforts include purchasing 0.14 credits from the Mid-Valley Mitigation Bank for wetland impacts and enhancing the floodplain along the river for other aquatic impacts.
