SPRINGFIELD – Springfield Utility Board’s elected Board of Directors today announced that Vanessa Barbarisi, who they selected as the utility’s next CEO/General Manager, will begin in her new role on June 25. Barbarisi was chosen to lead the utility after an extensive nationwide search. Barbarisi comes to SUB from PG&E in Oakland, California, and will succeed longtime general manager Jeff Nelson, who is retiring after more than 30 years with the SUB. She brings her experience in strategic planning, financial management, and transformation within the utility operations sector to SUB.
