2nd Street Project resumes May 1
CRESWELL – Construction on the City of Creswell’s 2nd Street Improvement Project is set to resume on Friday, May 1. This project spans the area of 2nd Street between Oregon Avenue and F Street and is anticipated to conclude at the end of August 2026, weather and conditions permitting. Springfield drivers expect delays
SPRINGFIELD – Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) crews began crack sealing on OR 126 between mileposts 10 and 15 in Springfield on April 26. Work hours are Sunday through Wednesday, 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Crews will seal cracks in the pavement to help protect the roadway and extend its life. Expect intermittent lane closures in both directions and delays through the work zone. Watch for flaggers and pilot cars and follow directions for your safety. Crews will move through the corridor as work progresses. Equipment and work vehicles will be active along the highway. Following crack sealing, crews will return to apply permanent striping with minor traffic impacts.
Martin Creek Road repairs
COTTAGE GROVE – The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is undertaking a project to repave and apply permanent striping to a section of I-5 in both directions in Cottage Grove due to significant damage and rapid cracking of the existing pavement. If not repaired, this deterioration may become unmanageable for maintenance crews. The project will involve removing the old pavement, repaving, installing new permanent striping, reinstalling shoulder rumble strips, and repairing or replacing the guardrail, as well as the bridge surfaces and joints as needed. Most work will occur at night from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., resulting in single-lane, shoulder, and ramp closures; drivers should be cautious and watch for workers. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph in the work zone, and ramp closures at Exit 172 and Exit 174 with detours are expected in the coming weeks. The total project cost is estimated at $19,728,432.
