Weyerhaeuser grants given to 25 across Lane County

LANE COUNTY – Over $120,000 in grants was recently awarded to Lane County nonprofits through the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund. A total of 25 grants were awarded for workforce development, education initiatives, and community projects throughout Eugene, Springfield, and Cottage Grove areas.

Weyerhaeuser employees serve on local advisory committees and help determine funding priorities within several focus areas, including environmental stewardship, education and youth development, human services, and affordable housing, according to a news release from Weyerhaeuser.

“The dedication these organizations bring to their work is critical for creating stronger, healthier communities for all our neighbors,” said Dana Quartly, Eugene Giving Fund committee member and Southern Oregon region manager at Weyerhaeuser.

Pleasant Hill Community Theatre at 35575 Zephyr Way has been operating as a nonprofit since 2000. The organization provides performing arts opportunities for the youth in the area and surrounding communities. PHCT received $2,166 through the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund.

“We are so grateful for the Weyerhaeuser grant that funded new heaters and ceiling fans for our auditorium,” said Jeannetta Stokes, PHCT board member. “Community support is vital for our success.”

Three $10,000 grants were awarded to Food for Lane County, Forests Today and Forever, and Springfield Education Foundation.
