SALEM –Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek has declared 2026 the Year of the Woman Farmer, aligning the state with the United Nations’ designation of the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
This initiative, supported by the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, acknowledges the vital contributions of women in agriculture.
Women represent 44% of all farmers in Oregon, placing the state among the top five in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Throughout 2026, ODA will spotlight women farmers and agricultural leaders.
The department encourages the public to share stories and photos of inspirational women in agriculture online at oda.direct/IYWF.
