Girls basketball previews

SPRINGFIELD
Tipping off: The No. 2 Millers (15-1) travel to No. 17 North Eugene (9-8) on Tuesday before hosting No. 3 Crater (14-3) on Friday. Friday’s matchup against the Comets will be particularly interesting as the two teams have been neck-and-neck in the Midwestern League all season. This is the first of the teams’ two matchups this year.

THURSTON
Tipping off: The No. 15 Colts (6-9) have two road games this week. They travel to No. 28 Churchill (4-14) on Tuesday before heading to No. 30 Ashland (3-12) on Friday. These are must-win games for the Colts. Their schedule gets tougher following this week, so earning a couple wins here will go a long way down the line.

COTTAGE GROVE
Tipping off: The No. 14 Lions (10-6) host No 26 Marshfield (3-12) on Tuesday before traveling to No. 21 Junction City (5-12) on Friday. These games offer the Lions easier competition as compared to their two Top 10 opponents from last week. Still, if the Lions are to win these games, they must shoot better from deep than they did last Friday (1-of-12 3PA).

CRESWELL
Tipping off: The No. 5 Bulldogs (12-6) travel to No. 3 Pleasant Hill (14-3) on Tuesday before hosting No. 42 La Pine (3-14) on Friday. These teams have been battling for position in the Mountain Valley Conference standings all year, and this game could be the deciding factor of who finishes on top. For the Bulldogs to win, they’ll have to manage the Billies’ press defense and limit turnovers.

PLEASANT HILL
Tipping off: The No. 3 Billies (14-3) host No. 5 Creswell on Tuesday and No. 25 Elmira (9-8) on Friday before traveling to No. 19 Westside (11-6) on Saturday. The Billies ride an eight-game winning streak into Tuesday’s game vs. the Bulldogs. If the Billies want to win, they must slow down the Bulldogs while making 3-pointers.
