Boys and girls wrestling recaps

SPRINGFIELD: The Millers girls took second (84.5) while the boys finished sixth (116) at the Willamette Invitational last Saturday. All eight of the Millers’ girls placed within the top four of their weight class. Haley Siders (125), Jules Starnes (130), and Sadie Garcia (170) were all standouts, each earning second place. For the boys, Vincent Andrews (138) stood out, getting another first-place finish this season. This puts his season record at 28-7.

THURSTON: The Colts boys took first place (256.5) at the Reser’s Tournament of Champions last weekend. The Colts had 11-of-14 wrestlers place last weekend. Coming in first for the Colts was Lukas Salas-Sanchez (113), Michael Salas-Sanchez (120), Tanner Brumble (126), and Ivan Henderson (132). This victory continues to show the dominance and depth of the Colts, as they get it done again with a strong team effort.

COTTAGE GROVE: The Lions girls placed second (129) while the boys took 10th (132.5) at the Tualatin Invitational last Saturday. For the girls, Taylor Blank (125) and Alexsis Woody (130) took first place. Woody is 25-8 on the season, consistently producing for the Lions. On the boys side, Jeffrey Conklin (132) and Michael Hoye (106) were the only placers, getting first and second, respectively.

CRESWELL: The Bulldogs competed in a dual against South Umpqua last week and the Bulldogs took home five wins. Coleman Breslaw (132), Mateus Archibek (190), and Logan Keppler (285) each beat their opponent, while Sawyer Downard (138) and Tanner Foster (144) won by forfeit.

PLEASANT HILL: The Billies girls took third (58) while the boys took fifth (118.5) at the Blake’s Battle for the Golden Yam tournament last Saturday. For the girls, Mattie Peacock (170) took home first place. On the boys side, Dean Scott (113), Nolan Perkins (126), and Jack Quinones (120) each earned first.
