Girls basketball recaps

■ SPRINGFIELD: The No. 2 Millers (13-1) went 2-0 last week in their first Midwestern League games. First, they beat No. 28 Churchill (4-12) 70-13 on Tuesday then No. 19 Eagle Point (7-7) 56-21 on Friday. While the Millers still haven’t lost since early December, they were overtaken in the Class 5A state rankings this week by No. 1 Redmond (12-1).

■ THURSTON: No. 18 Thurston (5-8) went 0-2 last week, dropping them to 0-3 in the Midwestern League. The Colts fell to No. 14 North Eugene (8-7) 39-34 on Tuesday. Then on Friday the Colts lost to No. 3 Crater (12-3) 61-19. The losses dropped the Colts three spots in the Class 5A state rankings.

■ COTTAGE GROVE: The No. 14 Lions (10-5) went 1-1 last week. The Lions took care of business on Tuesday against No. 22 Junction City (4-11), winning 54-34. Then, on Friday, the Lions lost to No. 4 North Bend (13-2) 45-42. The Lions dropped one spot from last week’s Class 4A state rankings.

■ CRESWELL: The No. 8 Bulldogs (10-6) went 1-2 last week. The Bulldogs won their first game of the week against No. 43 La Pine (3-12) 64-27. They then lost their next two against No. 5 Sisters (13-3) and No. 8 Cascade (11-4) 45-39 and 57-56, respectively. The losses knocked the Bulldogs down four spots in the Class 3A state rankings.

■ PLEASANT HILL: The No. 4 Billies (12-3) have been on a roll since mid-December, having not lost a game since Dec. 19. This was true last week as well, as they went 2-0. First, the Billies beat No. 21 Elmira (9-6) 36-14 on Tuesday, then No. 13 Harrisburg (13-4) on Friday, 35-28. Still, the Billies dropped one spot in the Class 3A state rankings last week, falling from No. 3 to No. 4.
