COTTAGE GROVE – On Jan. 20 at about 5:30 a.m., officers with the Cottage Grove Police Department responded to a report of a man who was found on the ground, unconscious and bleeding in the 1500 Block of Hwy 99. When officers arrived, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers attempted CPR, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots and seeing an unknown person wearing dark clothing running from the area. No suspects have been identified or located at this time. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
