PREVIEWS
■ SPRINGFIELD: The Millers compete in the Willamette Invitational on Saturday against Churchill, Sutherlin, and Willamette. Haley Siders (125) will be the wrestler to watch for the Millers. She has been dominant this season, and with a small field of competition there is no reason for her not to continue that dominance here.
■ THURSTON: The Colts will compete in the Reser’s Tournament in Sherwood this weekend against Bend, Canby, Forest Grove, Harrisburg, Mountain View, Newberg, Roseburg, Sherwood, and Sprague. The Colts boys have dominated their competition this year, and this will likely be no different. For the girls, Allison Cummings (170) has had a phenomenal season as well, with a 39-2 record. Look for that record to improve this week.
■ COTTAGE GROVE: The Lions travel to the Tualatin Invitational in Tualatin on Saturday. They will face Aloha, Cleveland, Crescent Valley, David Douglas, Grants Pass, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, Lakeridge, Lincoln, Madras, McDaniel, McMinnville, Sandy, Scappoose, Sherwood, Silverton, South Salem, Summit, Sunset, The Dalles/Dufur, Tualatin, West Salem, and Westview. Jeffrey Conklin (132) has been perfect for the Lions this year with a 29-0 record. If he can come out of this meet still undefeated, that perfect record can likely last the season.
■ CRESWELL: The Bulldogs will compete against South Umpqua in a dual meet on Thursday at South Umpqua HS. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back after losing their dual to Lowell a few weeks back. Javier Bautista (157), and Mateus Archibek (190) are wrestlers to watch.
■ PLEASANT HILL: The Billies compete in Blake’s Battle for the Golden Yam at Yamhill Carlton HS on Saturday. The Billies will face Molalla, North Marion, Phoenix, Willamina, and Yamhill-Carlton at this meet. Bryson Boyles (113) and Nolan Perkins (126) are coming off wins at the Nick Lutz Invitational last week.
