THURSTON: The Colts boys won and the girls took fourth at the NW Duals Tournament on Dec. 29-30. On the boys side, Samuel Greenstreet (106), Lukas Salas Sanchez (113), Michael Salas Sanchez (120), Owen Ragonesi (126), and Ivan Henderson (138) dominated this tournament as each of them did not lose a match. Thurston won 80-0 vs. Tillamook, 64-18 vs. Edmonds-Woodway, 71-3 vs. Eagle Point, and 44-18 vs. Newberg. On the girls side, the Colts won their first match against Sweet Home 45-36 and then lost their next two matchups against Dallas and Sedro-Woolley 45-34 and 45-36 respectively. Kaylee Hadden (110) and Molly Cummings (125) won each of their matches.

COTTAGE GROVE: The boys and girls participated in the Phil Smith Memorial invitational on Jan. 2-3. The boys took first with 226.5 points while the girls took third with 91. For the boys, 17-of-25 wrestlers placed within the top six of their weight class. Michael Hoye (106) and Jeffrey Conklin (132) were the sole first placers, with Conklin continuing his dominant season still without a loss, now 20-0. Boston Kent (135) also secured another win with her record at 16-3.

PLEASANT HILL: The Pleasant Hill boys took fourth in the King of the Hill Invitational with 147.5 points while the girls took 17th at the Sutherlin Invitational with 22 on Saturday, Jan. 3. Of the boys’ 13 wrestlers, eight placed while four took home a win. Dean Scott (113), Bryson Boyles (120), Jack Quinones (126), and Ryder Swaim (285) all placed first on Saturday. For the girls, Mattie Peacock (170) placed fourth.

PREVIEWS

SPRINGFIELD: The Millers compete in the Paul Larson Tournament at Sandy HS on Saturday, Jan. 10. Vincent Andrews (138) is 12-3 this year. Haley Siders (130) will also look to add another win on Saturday.

THURSTON: The Colts travel to Newberg to compete in the Earl Gillis Invitational. The Colts boys are coming off a dominant win at the NW Duals Tournament against a large field of competition. Samuel Greenstreet (106) has a 29-8 record. On the girls side, Kassidy Hadden (135) has a 17-3 record.

COTTAGE GROVE: The Lions compete in the Special District 2 Duals at Sweet Home HS on Saturday, Jan. 10. Jeffrey Conklin (138) will look to maintain his perfect record (20-0) while Boston Kent (140) looks to improve upon her 16-3 record.

CRESWELL: The Bulldogs compete in a Tri Dual at Lowell HS against Lowell and Springfield on Thursday. The Bulldogs’ Paige Ledgerwood (125) has been outstanding at 24-4.
