On Dec. 11 at 1:40 p.m., LCSO Search & Rescue located Erik Everardo Aguilar-Cisneros, 32, of Springfield, alive in the Hadsall Creek area south of Mapleton.
Aguilar-Cisneros was reported missing on the evening of Dec. 6 after he didn’t return from mushroom picking with several friends, prompting a multi-day search involving vehicles, ground searchers, K9 teams, and drones.

The search was aided by numerous volunteers and agency partners.
Officials recommend the following safety tips for outdoor exploration in Lane County:
- Always inform someone of your destination and expected return time.
- Check conditions before departure; rain in the valley can lead to ice at higher elevations.
- Be prepared to stay out overnight, even if you remain in your vehicle.
- Bring offline navigation maps, as cell service may be unreliable.
- Always wear a life jacket when on the water.
- If you become lost, stay put and find a way to signal or make your location visible. Carrying a whistle and flashlight can be crucial for safety in the outdoors.
