For those interested in finding holiday gifts that support local artists, keep money in the local economy, and promote small businesses rather than large corporations, consider a local gift shop, an art walk featuring local artists, or one of the many holiday markets nearby.
– Tinker Flom, adult recreation coordinator at Willamalane Community Center
“Buying local means supporting your neighbors, the environment, and creative pursuits. These creative artists and vendors are part of what makes Eugene-Springfield so unique.”
However, being able to afford unique, handcrafted goods is a privilege that comes with the ability to purchase higher-quality items.
For those on a tight budget this holiday season, another option is the Lane County Farmers Market (LCFM), which accepts EBT/SNAP benefits. Consumers need to go to the information booth and purchase tokens that can be used at LCFM to buy produce, honey, meat, eggs, bakery items, and anything food-related that isn’t a preprepared hot meal, such as lunch from a food cart.

As a bonus this year, the market is providing an additional voucher specifically for produce called a “Food Buck.” When someone buys $10 of tokens at the info booth with their EBT card, they receive $10 of additional Food Bucks to use on fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, or plants. This offer needs to be used before the last day of the market in 2025.
LCFM is in the Farmers Pavilion building on 8th and Oak in Eugene until Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
