■ Jeffrey Conklin (132-138), Jr.
Note: Two-time regional placer and two-time state placer. Took 3rd last year and 5th his freshman year. … Beat multiple state champs throughout the season. A quiet leader.
■ Jayden Davis (157-165), Sr.
Note: Regional placer last year and won some matches at state. Jayden
also competes as a national-level powerlifter.
■ Jake Polluck (157-165), So.
Note: He and Jayden are going to be a great one-two combo.
■ Mikey Hoye (106), Fr.
Note: Mikey is coming in after a successful middle school career. The sky’s the limit for Mikey; really looking forward to his contrbution to the team.
■ Maverick Wells (175), Sr.
Note: Maverick is new to CGHS and comes from a great program in
Creswell. Maverick qualified for state last year and we’re looking for him to be a dark horse placer this year.
TOP RETURNERS – Girls
■ Boston Kent (135), Jr.
Note: Boston lost a close one last year at regionals and just missed on qualifying for the state tournament. She’s the leader in the room now that girls and boys practices are separate and learning to fill the role.
■ Taylor Blank (130), Sr.
Note: Taylor fought an injury last year and wasn’t able to compete as
much as we would have liked. She’s healthy this year and came out for every open mat session in the offseason. She’s hungry.
■ Alexis Woody (125), Jr.
Note: We’re excited for Alexis this year now that she’s healthy. She
fights hard and is incredibly strong, once we layer technique into that she’s one that we’re looking to be a state qualifier/potential placer.
■ Emma Adair (120-125), Fr.
Note: Emma almost didn’t come out for wrestling but since she’s been in
the room, she’s fallen back in love. Looking forward to her transition to HS and hoping she’ll find the same success she did in Middle school.
League Titles: None recently, but that’s going to change next year.
■ Aliyah Urenda (115), Fr.
Note: Like Emma, Aliyah was a tough middle school wrestler. She put in work this summer.
