Fall outdoor burning season ends Oct. 31 for Eugene, Springfield

Location: Eugene, Springfield, Oakridge, and their Urban Growth Boundaries
Start date: Friday @ 4 pm 10/31/25
Elsewhere, Lane County: Still have burning privileges- check daily burn advisory

LANE COUNTY — Residents in Eugene, Springfield, Oakridge, and their urban growth boundaries who qualify to burn have until 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, to complete their fall yard debris burning.

After the deadline, outdoor burning is prohibited for all residents in these areas until the spring burning season opens for qualified residents in March. Violations for burning after the close of the outdoor burning season can result in fines ranging from $50 to $2,500 or more.

Outdoor burning remains an option for elsewhere in Lane County, but residents must check LRAPA’s daily outdoor burning advisory before lighting fires. You can check the status at lrapa-or.gov or by calling 541-726-3976. Coastal residents should call 541-997-1757.

Lane Regional Air Protection Agency encourages residents to consider alternatives to burning, like mulching, composting, or chipping yard debris. Lane Forest Products, Rexius, and Lane County transfer stations accept yard debris year-round.

For more information about disposal alternatives, visit lrapa-or.gov or call 541-736-1056.
