The Cottage Grove volleyball team went 2-1 last week, earning victories against Marshfield and Junction City in Sky-Em, but losing in the Marshfield Tournament over the weekend. The wins boosted their ranking in Sky-Em and the Lions have their eyes on second place in league.
In Class 3A, Creswelll was perfect last week in MVC play, recording shutout wins against La Pine and Harrisburg. Against La Pine on Tuesday, Creswell won in three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-22. Leaders for Creswell were Teighlor Nunez with 33 assists; Piper Hanson with 18 kills, 10 digs, and 4 aces; Marley Query with 11 kills and 7 digs; and Rylee Cline with 4 kills, 2 aces and 11 digs. On Thursday against Harrisburg, Creswell won in three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 24-14. Hanson led with 12 kills, 7 aces and 17 digs; Nunez with 25 assists, 3 kills and 3 aces; and Cline with 7 kills, 3 aces and 12 digs. It was Senior Night and the Bulldogs honored Cline and Nunez.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill went 1-1 in the conference last week. It started with defeating Harrisburg 3-0 behind strong performances from Sari Strinz with 13 kills and 22 digs, Anna Crawford with 11 kills and 22 digs, and Siena Shaddon with 27 assists and 12 digs. It was Senior Night for the Billies, who honored Luci Brady, Jordy Crawford, Kolbi Hampton, and Piper Fisher. The Billies then lost 3-1 to Sisters, with Crawford recording 17 kills, 6 aces, and 30 digs, Strinz adding 32 digs, 4 kills, and 2 aces, and Crawford contributing 6 kills and 24 digs.
Lastly, in Class 5A, Springfield lost to league foes Ashland and Eagle Point. The 13th loss of the season knocked the Millers down to a last-place spot in league. Thurston (6-10) lost to Crater and Churchill. It also lost in the Clearwater Tournament hosted in Bend last weekend.

#7 COTTAGE GROVE (11-6)
Setting up: The Lions play their last Sky-Em league game this week against North Bend. The Lions look to secure a No. 2 spot for the 2025 season, an improvement over last year’s third-place finish. They are guaranteed a postseason berth with a top-10 ranking.
#27 SPRINGFIELD (6-13-1)
Setting up: The Millers begin to close out their season this week with Thurston and Crater. They are last in the Midwestern League, but could edge Eagle Point for seventh.
#19 THURSTON COLTS (6-10)
Setting up: The Colts finish the season with Springfield and North Eugene. The Colts could end up in the sixth spot in the Midwestern League. Depending on how the rankings settle, they could qualify for a postseason berth if they jump up to No. 16 or better.
