All five of The Chronicle’s coverage schools ran in the Northwest Classic last weekend. In the 1A-4A division, Cottage Grove boys took second with top runners Remington Sharkey finishing 10th with a PR (17:16) and Jennings Albrecht finishing 11th with a PR (17:17). Pleasant Hill boys followed at 13th overall. Top runner for the Billies was Kaden Seaton (19:21). Creswell boys finished 18th. Javier Bautista led the Bulldogs at (20.34 PR).

Cottage Grove girls were third overall at the Northwest Classic, with Ella Cardwell earning second place at 19:30. Pleasant Hill girls took 12th with Kristen Gardner leading the way at 23:26.
In the 5A-6A division, Springfield boys finished 9th and the Thurston boys earned 10th. Adrian Estes led the Millers with 14th overall at 16:17. Owen Smith led Thurston at 17:02. Thurston girls earned 7th overall with Nathalie Parker leading the girl team at 21:01.

Thurston star runner Carson Buergey spent the weekend in Irvine, Calif., at the Woodbridge Classic meet in The Great Park. Woodbridge Classic is an invitation-only meet where only the fast can participate. In its 45 year history, it has produced some of the fastest runners in the U.S. He ran at 14:44 and was 67th out of 269 runners.
