Business sign-ups open for storm drain cleaning

Lane County’s Storm drain Cleaning Assistance Program (SCAP) is now accepting business signups until Oct. 31. This program, offered in partnership with Stormwater Protection Systems (SPS), provides storm drain cleaning for a flat fee of $70 per drain. Since its launch in 2023, over 580 storm drains from 182 businesses have been cleaned. Regular maintenance is crucial, as stormwater can carry pollutants into local rivers and streams, negatively impacting the environment.

For $70, the program covers debris removal, power washing, and disposal of contaminated sediment. Businesses are responsible for their privately owned storm drains, and the program does not cover repairs or oversized drains. Lane County does not reimburse for this service. Companies must register before heavy rains arrive. To sign up, visit LaneCountyOR.gov/SCAP or email [email protected].
